What each area is actually like to sleep in, and what a night really costs.
The north is convenient and busy. The west is calm water and sunsets. The east is windy, greener and quieter. The south is dramatic and remote. Choosing the wrong coast is the most common Mauritius mistake and no amount of hotel quality fixes it.

Greener, windier and considerably quieter than the north, with the best kitesurfing.
Only if you are staying put. Eating out is cheap and good, so all-inclusive mainly makes sense in the remote south and east where there is little within walking distance.
For December to January, three months. The rest of the year, three to four weeks is usually enough outside school holidays.
